zarjaz Commodore 64 game

Admittedly, I should have hunted around for docs on this game. I've searched for ages to find this game, and my initial experience left me feeling a bit lost. Spent 20 mins playing without clearing the first level. However, as I continued to play, I discovered its hidden charms. No matter how many things I shot at, there was no obvious progression, but the game's unique style grew on me.

Gameplay is an acquired taste, as the starfield graphics may seem unrelated to your velocity at first, making it feel like you're falling rather than speeding sideways. This quirk led to some unexpected challenges when enemies suddenly appeared, adding to the game's distinctive appeal.

The presentation is impressive, with a Jarre soundtrack by Ben Daglish that adds to the overall experience. The full-screen title using borders is a nice touch, and the weapon and system check sequence when you start playing adds depth to the game.

Overall, this unique game offers a different kind of gaming experience that may not be for everyone, but it certainly has its merits, even though it's not a perfect game.

Overall: 7/10 😊 This strange game used to fantasize me as it would make this small game look big by making use of all the four side borders. Give it a try with an emulator displaying side borders; you'll see what I mean!
