Zaga Mission Commodore 64 game

Zaga is a video game published in 1984 for the Commodore 64 by the German publisher Kingsoft. It was released abroad by Anirog under the title Zaga Mission. In the game, the player pilots a helicopter in a three-dimensional isometric environment with diagonal scrolling in the style of Zaxxon, but without any combat. The player controls the helicopter with a diagonal scrolling isometric view in the upper right direction. The game takes place on the built surface of an abandoned planet, which is futuristic but with exposed brick walls. The path is full of irregular and intricate walls, arches, and holes that form obstacles and winding corridors. There are no enemies, and the player loses a life only if the helicopter crashes into a wall or runs out of fuel. The obstacles are complicated by intermittent electrical barriers and moving barriers. The goal is to reach the end of the path, which consists of 10 stages that follow one another without interruption. The player can land on red crosses to refuel between stages.

The helicopter controls are rather slow, consisting of movement to the right and left, altitude changes, and acceleration forward. Vertical movement can be set to normal control, with up to ascend and down to descend, or "realistic," with the opposite control, like a helicopter's cloche; depending on the choice, the player faces two paths with different obstacles. To accelerate, the button is held down, and the helicopter decelerates automatically when the button is released. It is not possible to fly backward. The player has indicators for altitude, speed, distance traveled, and fuel levels. The helicopter's shadow is also visible on the vertical axis, helping to understand its position in 3D space.
