River City Ransom EX (USA) Gameboy Advance game

In River City Ransom, the villain Slick has kidnapped Ryan's girlfriend and taken over the high school. Players control Ryan or Alex (second player), fighting through River City's gangs to confront Slick and rescue the girl.

The game is a side-scrolling beat-em-up like Double Dragon. Players navigate River City, battling gangs using punches, kicks, and objects found along the way. Defeated gang members drop money, which can be spent on health-restoring items and improving combat abilities at malls. Characters have RPG-like stats that can be boosted, and new combat moves can be learned from books. To finish the game, players must defeat all bosses.

The Game Boy Advance version adds features like recruiting characters, including defeated bosses, to fight alongside you. It also introduces new gangs and weapons.
