Kult - The Temple of Flying Saucers Amiga game

Kult is a fusion of role-playing elements with innovative arcade adventure-style gameplay. While it holds great promise, the software unfortunately buries it beneath a convoluted pseudo sci-fi narrative in the instruction manual. In this game, you assume the role of Raven, a psi-mortal on a mission to rescue his friends from a temple. To succeed, you must navigate through a series of tasks within the temple, ultimately facing the high Priestess. These tasks range from simple object retrieval to navigating traps and evading guards.

The temple's design deserves commendation for its vibrant and varied colors, expertly blended without overwhelming the senses. Navigation is intuitive, aided by a cursor that adapts to different areas of the screen. Each room in the circular temple presents a unique challenge, contributing to the overall puzzle of the game.

Encounters with other characters are visually engaging, with enlarged portraits and speech bubbles adding depth to interactions. Careful dialogue choices are crucial, as a wrong move can prove fatal. Combat should be approached cautiously, as it can draw unwanted attention from temple guards and other characters.

Your PSI powers add an exciting dimension to gameplay, offering abilities like extreme violence and mind control. However, they come at the cost of draining your energy, requiring strategic use. Despite its strengths in graphics and sound, Kult falls slightly short in creating the immersive atmosphere typical of RPGs.

Overall, Kult offers a lengthy and engaging experience, though it may not reach classic status. With superb graphics, excellent sound, and solid gameplay mechanics, it remains a memorable adventure worth exploring.
